As we strive to positively impact our community, our members are guided by the conviction that the effort of one person, however small, can be significant in the lives of others.
Ventura Kiwanis is a group of dedicated volunteers serving the needs of Ventura with an emphasis on youth and vulnerable adults, while providing our members opportunities for fellowship, leadership and business relations. We perform many community service projects in Ventura, mostly serving its children. If you are interested in service and helping the children of Ventura, you can learn more in this site and we welcome you to join us at one of our meetings.
Periodically Kiwanis International engages its members worldwide to participate in projects that are international in scope.
Members and clubs contributed more than US$100 million toward the global elimination of Iodine Deficiency Disorders (IDD), the leading preventable cause of mental retardation. Heralded as one of the most successful health initiatives in the world, today those dollars are at work in more than 103 nations.
Currently, through 2015, Kiwanis International and UNICEF have joined forces to eliminate maternal and neonatal tetanus. To eliminate MNT from the Earth, more than 100 million mothers and their future babies must be immunized. This requires vaccines, syringes, safe storage, transportation, thousands of skilled staff and more. It will take US$110 million — and the dedicated work of UNICEF and every member of the Kiwanis family
Kiwanis is more than just Ventura. We are a part of Division 42, which is within the California Nevada Hawaii District, and part of the larger Kiwanis International. Worldwide Kiwanis annually develops more than 150,000 service projects, and when combined with the service contributed by our sponsored programs, serves the children and communities of the world with over 18,000,000 service hours.
“Kiwanis International is a global organization of volunteers dedicated to changing the world, one child and one community at a time.”
